Argentine Prosecutors Seek Interpol Red Notice for LIBRA Creator Hayden Davis

Argentine prosecutors have requested an Interpol Red Notice for Hayden Davis, the creator of the controversial LIBRA memecoin, amid allegations of fraud and market manipulation.

According to multiple local news sources, Gregorio Dalbón, a prosecuting attorney in the case involving LIBRA and President Javier Milei, has filed for an international arrest warrant against Davis, who remains at large. Dalbón argues that the U.S. citizen poses a flight risk due to his financial resources and foreign residence.

“Given the magnitude of the scandal and the significant losses suffered by investors, the procedural risk of allowing Hayden Mark Davis to remain free is evident,”

his petition reportedly states.

Notably, following its controversial publicity in early February, LIBRA’s value has plunged 90%, with the scandal drawing intense scrutiny due to President Milei’s alleged involvement. Critics claim he publicly promoted the token before its collapse, though Milei has denied encouraging investments, stating he merely shared information about it. He downplayed its impact on Argentina, asserting that only a handful of local investors—four or five—were affected, while most victims were from China and the U.S.

Blockchain analysis firm Nansen reported that retail investors suffered heavy losses, while wallets associated with Davis and another key figure, Kelsier, extracted substantial profits before the crash.

Another blockchain analytics platform, Bubblemaps, found evidence of market manipulation, including “sniping” tactics used to control liquidity. Davis admitted to these strategies but claimed they were meant to stabilize the token—a strategy that ultimately failed.

The crypto industry has seen significant shake-ups following the scandal, including the recent resignation of Ben Chow, co-founder of the decentralized finance platform Meteora, amidst the controversy.

If Dalbón’s request is granted, Davis will be flagged for extradition across 195 member countries, though a Red Notice does not mandate an arrest.
