Dubai is once again set to host the second edition of the Middle East Blockchain Awards (MEBA) on April 29, 2025 at the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab.
The event’s organizers, Hoko Group, announced in a February 6 press release that it retains its goal to recognize individual and organizational contributions to blockchain innovation across the MENA region.
Max Palethorpe, CEO of Hoko Group, highlighted the awards’ role in setting new standards for digital transformation. According to him, the event provides a platform that not only honours the incredible achievements propelling blockchain innovation but also sets new benchmarks for digital transformation across the region.
“This year’s event promises to be a true celebration of the pioneers who are pushing boundaries and setting new standards,”
Palethorpe stated.
Notably, the MENA region has emerged as the seventh-largest cryptocurrency market worldwide, with transactions totalling an estimated $338.7 billion from July 2023 to June 2024, representing 7.5% of global transaction volume.
The organizers highlighted that its decision to return to Dubai is the United Arab Emirates’s position as a global leader in digital asset adoption. It referenced Chainalysis’s latest report, which revealed that the UAE saw a 42% year-on-year increase in cryptocurrency transactions, receiving approximately $34 billion in digital assets between June 2023 and July 2024.
According to one of the awards judges, Dr Marwan Al Zarouni, CEO of AI for Dubai at the Department of Economy and Tourism and CEO of the Dubai Blockchain Centre, Dubai’s regulatory efforts have played a key role in this expansion. Al Zarouni emphasized that the UAE’s forward-thinking regulations and innovation ecosystem drive Web 3.0 adoption.

Other members of the judging panel include top industry figures, such as Jumana Al Darwish, founder of Happy Box; Scott Melker, host of The Wolf of All Streets podcast; Mario Nawfal; Saqr Ereiqat; Jorge Sebastiao; and Matthies Mende.
