Binance Adds Trump Media Token to Margin Collateral

Binance has added DJTB, its tokenized security linked to Trump Media & Technology Group, as an eligible margin collateral asset, allowing qualified traders to use the token to support leveraged positions. The move, announced on August 26, expands the exchange’s bStocks product beyond spot trading to include margin-backed accounts.

The collateral feature became available at 12:00 UTC for eligible VIP 3 users and above in approved jurisdictions. DJTB can be deposited as collateral through Binance’s cross-margin, Unified Account and Unified Account Pro systems, while the related bStocks pair is also available for margin trading. Withdrawals are scheduled for 13:00 UTC and zero maker fees through August 31.

The change means traders can use the market value of DJTB when calculating the collateral available for other margin positions. Binance applies collateral ratios and can adjust them as market conditions change, meaning the amount recognized as borrowing capacity can be below the token’s full market value.

DJTB itself cannot be borrowed under the new arrangement. That distinction makes the product closer to using a tokenized equity position as collateral than treating DJTB as a conventional margin asset that can be borrowed and shorted.

Previously, Binance also expanded its tokenized securities offering by listing SK Hynix (SKHYB) on its spot exchange, giving eligible users access to blockchain-based exposure to one of South Korea’s largest semiconductor companies.

DJTB is becoming collateral without becoming a share

The distinction between tokenized exposure and actual ownership becomes more important once DJTB enters the margin system. Binance’s bStocks are designed to provide economic exposure to underlying financial instruments, but holding DJTB does not put an investor directly on Trump Media’s shareholder register.

That creates a different structure from ordinary stock collateral at a traditional broker.

It also shows where tokenized equities could fit into crypto markets. Rather than simply recreating a stock on a blockchain, exchanges can make the asset usable inside existing crypto trading infrastructure, including margin and portfolio systems.

What happens next for the token and users?

Access remains the main constraint. Binance says bStocks are offered through an approved Abu Dhabi Global Market prospectus and are available only to eligible users in permitted jurisdictions. People in the United States are excluded because the securities have not been registered under US federal or state securities laws.

Binance also lowered the VIP 3 wallet-asset threshold from $3 million to $1 million in July, potentially widening the pool of users eligible for the new collateral feature.

The next point to watch is whether Binance expands borrowing functionality for DJTB or adds more tokenized equities as collateral. For now, the product remains a tightly controlled bridge between tokenized securities and leveraged crypto trading.
