Your Weekend Crypto Roundup July 2026, Week 4

Your Weekend Crypto Roundup July 2026, Week 4

Trump’s temporary 10% global import tariff officially expired at 12:01 a.m. on July 24, 2026, as mandated by the 150-day limit under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. But before anyone could celebrate, the White House immediately replaced it with a new round of country-specific tariffs, ranging from 10% to 12.5%, targeting 60 trading partners. One set of tariffs has expired, but another has already arrived. Crypto isn’t directly in the line of fire, but when global trade gets this unsettled, risk assets feel it. Global markets are already feeling it.

By mid-week, the geopolitical front had its own drama. Iran’s IRGC claimed it struck Amazon’s data infrastructure in Bahrain with cruise missiles during the latest flare-up in US-Iran tensions. This is significant because we’re no longer just talking about military targets. Nation-state conflict is now reaching into the civilian digital infrastructure that the internet runs on. Markets picked up on that quickly.

Binance experienced more Bitcoin outfows than inflows this week, roughly 1,600 BTC in net withdrawals. When coins move off exchanges, it usually means holders are putting them in cold storage rather than preparing to sell. One week of data isn’t a trend, but it’s the kind of signal worth watching.

Europe had a particularly busy week in regulation.

  • The EU handed Google a combined €890 million fine for DMA violations, the same week it ordered the company to open Android and Search to rivals. Brussels is clearly done waiting on voluntary compliance.
  • The U.K. Parliament opened a formal inquiry into whether banks are unfairly shutting crypto firms out of financial services. It’s a complaint the industry has been making for years.
  • The London Stock Exchange announced plans for an overnight trading venue targeting H1 2027, directly citing 24/7 crypto markets as the reason.

In AI, the U.S. and China are planning high-level talks on AI safety risks in September, the first formal dialogue between the two on the subject this year. India backed 20 homegrown AI model proposals with over 9.3 million GPU hours under the IndiaAI Mission.

From tariffs to missiles to regulation, this week had range. If you missed anything, here’s your catch-up.
