Alpaca has partnered with South Korean brokerage Daishin Securities to expand cross-border investment services, strengthening the firm’s presence in Asia as demand grows for platforms that support both traditional and digital assets.
The partnership also includes plans to cooperate on new investment products and additional international markets. Alpaca provides brokerage infrastructure through APIs that support stocks, exchange-traded funds, options, bonds, and cryptocurrencies. Its technology is used by banks, fintech companies, and investment platforms worldwide and supports more than 10 million brokerage accounts.
Alpaca CEO Yoshi Yokokawa said the partnership combines the company’s global brokerage infrastructure with Daishin Securities’ knowledge of the Korean market to improve access for international investors. Daishin Securities Wholesale Division Head Jung Yeon-woo said the agreement is expected to expand overseas investment opportunities for Korean investors while improving access to Korean markets for investors abroad.

Brokerages expand into digital assets
The technology behind stock trading is increasingly being used for digital assets as well. Companies that once focused on securities trading are now building systems that support cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, and stablecoins alongside traditional financial products. Rather than operating separate platforms, many institutions are looking for infrastructure that can handle multiple asset classes through a single system.
That approach has made brokerage infrastructure companies more important to the digital asset industry. Instead of launching consumer exchanges, firms such as Alpaca provide the technology that allows banks, fintech platforms, and investment firms to offer trading services while adding new products as regulations develop.

More financial firms building on blockchain
Blockchain is becoming part of the financial systems used behind the scenes. Over the past two years, major institutions including BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and JPMorgan Chase have launched blockchain-based funds, digital asset platforms, and payment networks to test faster ways of moving and settling financial assets.
For brokerages, the technology is less about replacing stock markets and more about improving how they operate. Faster settlement, better record-keeping, and easier connections between financial institutions are becoming main reasons companies are investing in blockchain. As more firms build services around the technology, partnerships between traditional financial companies and blockchain providers are becoming a common way to bring those systems into everyday investing.
Similarly, Alpaca signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korea’s Eugene Investment & Securities to expand access to Korean equities for global investors through its brokerage infrastructure platform.
