Do Kwon Claims the Charges Brought Against Him are Politically Motivated

Last updated on April 13th, 2026 at 06:32 pm

In an interview for the podcast, UnChained, Do Kwon, one of the founders of Terra, stated that the charges brought against him by South Korean prosecutors are “politically motivated” and illegitimate.

Do Kwon is currently wanted by prosecutors in South Korea for alleged violations of the Capital Markets Act. Officials had previously claimed that Interpol had issued a “red notice” for him. Do Kwon, however, insisted he had never seen a copy of the warrant that led to his arrest.

Do Kwon responded to the allegations against him, saying, “We don’t think that any of the charges about the Capital Markets Act are genuine because the government’s stance has been that cryptocurrencies shouldn’t be governed by the Capital Markets Act because they’re not securities. We don’t believe these are legitimate charges and are politically motivated.”

During the interview, Do Kwon stated that he was not on the run and was willing to assist the authorities in their investigation. But he refused to reveal his location because he was concerned about his safety and privacy.

“Every time the location where I live becomes known, it becomes almost impossible for me to live there, ” he said.
