Bloomberg has launched two new financial indices designed to help investors mix Bitcoin and gold in their portfolios.
According to the financial media giant, these new indices, called the Bloomberg Bitcoin and Gold Equal-Weighted Index (BBIG), and the Bloomberg Dollar, Bitcoin and Gold Equal-Weighted Index (BBUG), would help simplify investing in both assets.
Bloomberg noted that both Bitcoin and gold hit record highs last year, and crypto investments surged past $220 billion in 2024 thanks to clearer regulations and the introduction of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Thus, the assets are popular choices for investors looking for reliable assets. Instead of viewing the two assets as rivals, the media company noted that it wants to show how they can work together in investment strategies.
The BBIG Index balances Bitcoin and gold equally, while the BBUG Index includes the U.S. dollar alongside them. Jigna Gibb, Head of Commodity and Crypto Index Products at Bloomberg Index Services Limited, explained that pairing Bitcoin with gold helps manage Bitcoin’s price swings, as gold is known for its stability.
These indices are designed to be flexible such that they can be adjusted in the future based on market demand.
Notably, Gibb stated that this initiative marks the first of its kind among hybrid indices combining commodities and digital assets.
Investors can access these indices on the Bloomberg Terminal service. The company also revealed plans to introduce more indices combining digital assets and commodities.
Meanwhile, in the crypto trading space, OKX Australia has introduced two automated trading bots to make crypto trading easier. The Spot Grid Bot helps users buy and sell within a set price range, while the DCA Martingale Bot lowers costs by buying more when prices drop. Both bots include safety features like stop-loss settings and real-time tracking.
