Hashdex, a global leader in crypto-focused asset management, has appointed Mick McLaughlin as its U.S. Head of Distribution to strengthen its presence in the growing digital asset market.
McLaughlin will oversee the distribution and growth of the firm’s crypto-based ETFs in the U.S., expanding Hashdex’s sales team and increasing U.S. investors’ access to the firm’s offerings.
Marcelo Sampaio, Co-Founder and CEO of Hashdex, emphasized the growing demand for digital assets, noting the market now exceeds $3 trillion. Sampaio highlighted McLaughlin’s extensive experience in asset management as a perfect fit for the role, positioning the firm to meet increasing investor demand.
McLaughlin joins Hashdex from Bitwise Asset Management, where he served as Chief Distribution Officer. He also held senior roles at Deutsche Bank, BlackRock, and Barclays, bringing over a decade of experience in the ETF space. Recognized as an industry visionary by ETF.com, McLaughlin is poised to lead the U.S. team as the firm expands its product offerings, per the report.
According to the press release, Hashdex, known for its global commitment to crypto, is also behind the world’s first crypto ETF, the Hashdex-Nasdaq Crypto Index ETF, which tracks the NCI™ and trades on the Brazilian stock exchange. The firm’s Nasdaq Crypto Index Europe ETP, recently awarded ETF Stream’s Digital Asset ETP of the Year, remains Europe’s largest multi-asset crypto ETP.
This appointment follows recent updates to Hashdex’s S-1 filing for the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF. The revised application, filed on November 25, responds to the SEC’s request for more review time after the initial submission on June 24. The ETF will focus exclusively on Bitcoin and Ether, with potential for future asset inclusion. Similarly, Franklin Templeton filed for its Franklin Crypto Index ETF in August, currently tracking Bitcoin and Ether due to regulatory limitations, with room for expansion.
