Polygon Network Experiences Node-Related Glitch
Polygon is dealing with a temporary delay in achieving consensus finality after a bug affected its Bor and Erigon nodes, according to an official update on the project’s status page. The incident began early Wednesday, disrupting several Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services and limiting access for decentralized applications (dApps) built on the network.

While the chain continues to run and blocks and checkpoints are produced, there is currently a 10-15 minute delay in finality due to a milestone issue.

Despite the disruption, Polygon clarified that the blockchain is still operational and producing blocks. However, some validators and RPC providers were forced to rewind to the last finalized block and resynchronize in order to continue operations.
Restart Fix and Debugging Efforts Underway
Polygon engineers confirmed that restarting affected nodes has resolved the issue for a number of participants.
“We see that a restart of nodes has fixed the issues for many validators and RPC providers,”
the team stated.
To accelerate recovery, Polygon developers are working closely with infrastructure providers to debug the problem. The team stressed that the disruption has not impacted the core functioning of the blockchain and assured users that services will return to full stability soon.
Block Production Continues Amid Finality Delays
At one point, Polygonscan showed no new block produced for more than five hours. In response, Polygon redirected users to an alternative link confirming real-time block updates. The team emphasized that
“checkpoint finality is working as expected within 15 minutes.”
On X, Polygon Labs revealed that a permanent fix has been identified and will be rolled out across validators and service providers. The bug specifically affected Bor — Polygon’s block production program — and Erigon, a tool widely used by infrastructure providers to efficiently access and store blockchain data.
Meanwhile, in June, Polygon appointed its co-founder, Sandeep Nailwal, as CEO of the Polygon Foundation. signalling a strategic shift aimed at streamlining decision-making and fast-tracking the expansion of AggLayer, Polygon’s interoperability protocol.
