Crypto.com has officially expanded its services across the European Economic Area (EEA) after securing a license under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework.
In a February 12 announcement on X, the crypto exchange confirmed that it “can provide crypto asset services cross-border to all EEA Member States.”
With its full MiCA license granted by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), Crypto.com is among the first major global crypto asset service providers to receive such authorization.
The EEA expansion aligns with Crypto.com’s broader strategy to strengthen its regulatory standing and international presence. The company has been actively expanding its global footprint. It started 2025 with the launch of its institutional-grade exchange in the United States. This new platform is expected to complement its existing Crypto.com App, which serves retail users in the U.S.
Also, in December 2024, Crypto.com bolstered its presence in the Middle Eastern market by acquiring Orion Principals Limited, a brokerage firm regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This acquisition enabled the exchange to offer financial products within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), further diversifying its offerings.
Crypto.com’s ambitions extend beyond cryptocurrency trading. According to its 2025 roadmap, it is preparing to file for an ETF centred around its native token, Cronos (CRO). In Q1 2025, the exchange plans to introduce stock and stock options trading, integrating traditional financial instruments into its platform. By Q3 2025, it aims to launch its own stablecoin. It is also developing new banking features, including multi-currency personal accounts and cash savings accounts.
Despite these strategic advancements, Crypto.com’s native token, Cronos (CRO), has seen significant losses. According to data from CoinMarketCap, CRO is down 5% on the daily chart, 12% for the week, and 30% over the past month. Currently, the token is trading 90% below its all-time high from November 2021.
