Crypto Markets Rise as U.S.-Iran Peace Deal Lifts Risk Appetite, Oil Prices Slide

Cryptocurrency markets saw movements after the United States and Iran confirmed they had finalized a peace agreement, easing fears over disruptions in the Middle East and boosting confidence across global financial markets.

The announcement triggered a broad risk-on move, with investors shifting back into assets such as cryptocurrencies and technology stocks while reducing exposure to safe-haven trades. At the same time, oil prices fell sharply as expectations grew that the Strait of Hormuz could soon return to normal operations.

Will the peace agreement improve market sentiment?

The reported agreement between Washington and Tehran improved market sentiment after months of uncertainty surrounding one of the world’s most important energy routes.

U.S. stock futures moved higher following the news, with contracts tied to major indexes posting solid gains. The improved outlook also spilled into digital assets, as traders welcomed reduced geopolitical tension and renewed appetite for higher-risk investments.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices dropped, reflecting expectations that energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz may face fewer disruptions if the agreement is formally implemented.

Leaders outline next steps

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the deal with Iran had been completed and said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen after the agreement is officially signed. He also stated that restrictions affecting Iranian ports would be lifted, allowing oil shipments to move more freely through the region.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed that a memorandum of understanding had been finalized between the two countries. According to Iranian officials, a formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

The Iranian official also said the agreement would include an immediate and permanent halt to military operations across several fronts, including Lebanon.

Crypto investors watch regional stability

For crypto investors, easing tensions in the Middle East could reduce short-term market uncertainty and support broader investor confidence. Digital assets often react quickly to geopolitical developments, particularly when they influence global liquidity and risk sentiment.

Pakistan, which helped mediate the negotiations, also confirmed the planned signing ceremony. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said representatives from both sides are expected to meet in Switzerland later this week to formally complete the agreement, marking a significant diplomatic step that markets will continue to monitor closely.
