Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has distanced himself from several meme coins launched under his name across multiple blockchain networks, saying he has never supported or created any such tokens.
In a post shared on his Telegram channel, ZachXBT warned that traders should not assume tokens using his name have his approval. He repeated that he has no involvement with meme coin projects and said he never plans to launch one.
“I have always stated I will never support or launch a meme coin,” he wrote.
Why did ZachXBT sell the tokens?
According to ZachXBT, some of the meme coins were sent directly to his public donation wallet without his permission. Instead of keeping the assets, he sold all of the tokens and donated the proceeds to charity.
The total amount raised was about $41,000. The donations were made through The Giving Block, with the funds going to Direct Relief and GiveDirectly to support people affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela.
Transaction records shared by ZachXBT show he sent 25,000 USDT to GiveDirectly on July 6, followed by another 5,000 USDT to Direct Relief later the same day. He had also donated 153 SOL, worth about $11,000 at the time, to Direct Relief on June 28.
Meme coins continue to use public figures
This shows a rising trend in crypto, where developers launch meme coins using the names of well-known people to attract attention and trading activity.
Because ZachXBT is widely known for exposing crypto scams and tracking stolen funds, tokens using his name could mislead users into believing he supports the projects. His latest statement makes clear that he has no connection to any of them.
This is not the first time his name has been linked to unofficial tokens. In 2025, a ZACH token launched on Flaunch.gg claimed that most of its trading fees would benefit ZachXBT. Around the same time, another meme coin on Solana sparked debate after part of its token supply was sent to his wallet. He denied any involvement in both cases.
What does this mean for crypto traders?
Crypto users are encouraged to verify official announcements, review token contracts, check liquidity, and examine token ownership before buying newly launched assets.
Meanwhile, according to a recent report from The Giving Block on crypto donations, more than $1 billion in crypto assets have been donated to charities in 2024 alone. The report noted that the average crypto donation was $10,978, increasing over 386% compared to the average amount in 2023.
