Gate.io has launched a digitalized Pre-IPO participation model, allowing users to access early-stage equity offerings through its platform using crypto-native infrastructure.
The new feature introduces a tokenized approach to pre-IPO investing, enabling users to reserve allocations in upcoming listings without traditional barriers such as geographic restrictions, institutional requirements, or high capital thresholds. Participation is facilitated through platform-supported stablecoins, streamlining access to private market opportunities typically reserved for institutional investors.

Tokenization in IPOs involves converting company shares into digital tokens on a blockchain, allowing investors to buy and trade them more easily. It lowers entry barriers through fractional ownership, making IPOs more accessible to a wider range of investors. It improves security, transparency, and efficiency by reducing intermediaries and enabling faster, global transactions. However, challenges like regulatory uncertainty and technical complexity still limit widespread adoption, though future growth is expected.
Stablecoin access simplifies Pre-IPO participation
Under the new model, users can subscribe to Pre-IPO offerings directly using stablecoins, eliminating the need for complex onboarding processes associated with traditional equity markets. The system mirrors over-the-counter (OTC) trading workflows, allowing for a more flexible and accessible investment process.
By leveraging blockchain-based settlement, the platform reduces friction in cross-border participation while maintaining a simplified user experience. The move reflects a broader trend of tokenizing traditional financial assets to make them more accessible within crypto-native ecosystems.
Multi-asset strategy expands beyond crypto markets
The launch builds on Gate’s broader push into multi-asset trading, where traditional financial instruments are integrated alongside digital assets. The platform has previously introduced trading access to forex, commodities, indices, and metals, positioning itself at the intersection of crypto and traditional finance.
With the addition of tokenized Pre-IPO offerings, Gate is extending this strategy into private equity markets, an area historically limited by regulatory and structural constraints. The approach signals increasing convergence between blockchain infrastructure and global capital markets.
Meanwhile, Gate released its latest Proof of Reserves report, showing an overall reserve ratio of 122% as of March, signalling a continued surplus of assets held against user deposits across its platform.
