Ducat Integrates Chainlink to Launch First Bitcoin-Native Oracle

Last updated on January 3rd, 2026 at 03:55 pm

Quick Breakdown

  • Ducat integrates Chainlink Runtime Environment to launch the first fully Bitcoin-native oracle.
  • BTC/USD price feeds, powered by 31 independent Chainlink nodes, provide decentralized, tamper-resistant on-chain data.
  • Integration enables non-custodial Bitcoin DeFi applications, including vaults, loans, stablecoins, and liquidations.

In a major step forward for Bitcoin-based DeFi, Ducat has integrated the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) to launch the first oracle built directly on Bitcoin. The partnership lets Ducat run price feeds on Bitcoin’s Layer 1, delivering a fully non-custodial and decentralized setup for core financial tools like vaults, loans, stablecoins, and liquidation systems.

Decentralized oracle powers Bitcoin DeFi

Most DeFi protocols rely on in-house or semi-centralized oracles, creating trust assumptions that compromise true decentralization. Ducat CEO emphasized that for Bitcoin-native finance, such compromises are unacceptable. By leveraging Chainlink’s industry-standard oracle infrastructure, Ducat ensures that its oracle functionality is fully decentralized and resistant to manipulation. Chainlink’s BTC/USD price feed aggregates data from 31 independent node operators, each sourcing data from multiple exchanges to produce a tamper-proof, on-chain median.

This integration marks a significant expansion of Chainlink’s proven oracle technology, which has operated mainly within EVM-based ecosystems, into Bitcoin’s Layer 1. The move brings open, verifiable financial infrastructure to Bitcoin, setting the stage for a new generation of decentralized applications on the world’s most secure blockchain.

Paving the way for bitcoin financial primitives

Ducat’s move to adopt Chainlink CRE improves price accuracy and helps build greater user confidence in fully decentralized financial products. Analysts say the integration puts Ducat at the forefront of Bitcoin-native DeFi, giving developers and investors access to non-custodial, permissionless tools directly on Bitcoin.

The partnership reflects a broader shift toward bringing mature DeFi infrastructure to Bitcoin, pointing to the largely untapped potential of the base layer for more advanced financial applications. As decentralized oracles continue to gain ground on Bitcoin, Ducat and Chainlink are well positioned to help shape new benchmarks for transparency, security, and scalability across the ecosystem.

Meanwhile, SBI Group has confirmed that Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) will be the sole network supporting cross-chain connectivity for its institutional tokenization platform. This will allow asset issuance, settlement, and secondary trading to move smoothly across both public and permissioned blockchains, giving another push to institutional adoption of crypto.
