Wirex has joined Visa’s Agentic Ready programme as an issuer, becoming part of a group exploring how artificial intelligence can make payments on behalf of users using stablecoin-based payment rails.
The initiative focuses on creating secure systems that allow AI agents to initiate and complete transactions while maintaining user control and payment security. Wirex said the partnership builds on its existing relationship with Visa and expands its role in the growing intersection of crypto, payments, and AI.

How will Wirex use stablecoins for AI-powered payments on Visa?
Under the programme, Wirex will work with Visa and other partners to test how AI agents can execute payments using stablecoins without requiring manual approval for every transaction.
The company said the goal is to support always-on financial activity, where software can handle routine payment tasks automatically. Stablecoins are expected to play a key role because they can settle transactions around the clock, unlike traditional banking systems that often face operating-hour restrictions and settlement delays.
Wirex believes this infrastructure could help support a new generation of digital commerce where AI-powered services manage spending and payments more efficiently.
AI agents to handle crypto activities without human approval
The initial testing phase will focus on practical business and consumer use cases. These include software subscriptions, corporate procurement, marketing spending, and other recurring payment activities.
Wirex also sees potential for AI agents to help users manage travel bookings, subscription services, and routine transactions without requiring direct action at every step. The company said maintaining customer consent and transaction visibility will remain a core part of the system.
Stablecoins power payments for AI systems
As AI agents become more capable of making decisions and executing tasks, payment infrastructure is emerging as a major challenge. Traditional banking systems were built around human approval processes, while AI systems require continuous access to settlement networks.
This has led several crypto and payment companies to explore stablecoins as a foundation for machine-driven commerce. Industry participants increasingly view stablecoins as a practical option for enabling AI agents to move value instantly across digital platforms, creating new opportunities for automated payments and financial services.
In another development, Wirex has unveiled a TRON-native payment infrastructure designed for fully on-chain, self-custodial transactions. The platform enables users to send stablecoins, pay invoices, manage payroll, and complete retail purchases directly on TRON.
