According to a report, Samsung Asset Management has been granted approval by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to list its Bitcoin (BTC) Futures Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) by January 13th. This development represents a significant step forward for the company, as it will now be able to offer investors access to Bitcoin through a traditional investment vehicle.
An ETF is an investment fund that holds a basket of assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities, or currencies. The ETF can be traded on an exchange, similar to stocks, and their value reflects the value of the underlying assets. A Bitcoin ETF, specifically, is an ETF that holds Bitcoin as its underlying asset.
On October 31st, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) announced a significant development for retail investors in the crypto investment space. The regulator revealed plans to authorize ETF providers to list futures contracts, giving investors the opportunity to gain exposure to various crypto assets.
As a result of this decision, Samsung Asset Management submitted a request for permission to launch its Bitcoin Futures Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) on the market. The ETF, known as the Samsung Bitcoin Active ETF, will be traded under the ticker “FA SAMSUNG BTC” and will be available for trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange starting January 13th.
This ETF will allow investors to gain exposure to the price movement of Bitcoin and participate in the potential growth of the digital asset class through a regulated investment vehicle.
Before its recent application to offer a Bitcoin Futures ETF for trading, Samsung Asset Management has been actively expanding its offerings in the realm of ETFs related to emerging technologies and digital assets.
Previously, the company had listed two ETFs, the Samsung Global Blockchain Industry ETF, and the Samsung Asia Pacific Metaverse ETF, for trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
