The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) has signed a partnership with the Cardano Foundation to explore how blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies can improve sports management in Brazil.
The agreement is part of the committee’s digital transformation strategy. Both organizations plan to work together on projects that can increase transparency, improve governance, and make sports operations more efficient.

Why is education part of the COB and Cardano partnership?
COB Director General Emanuel Rego said the partnership is not only about using new technology. He explained that a key part of the plan is helping athletes, sports groups, and the public understand how blockchain and other new tools work.
This focus on education is meant to support smoother adoption across Brazil’s sports system, not just at the technical level but also among users and decision makers. It also helps reduce confusion around how these systems function and why they are being introduced. The committee hopes more people will be open to using digital tools in areas like athlete records, event management, and funding processes.
Three-year plan targets athletes and fans
The partnership includes a three-year roadmap covering several key areas. One focus will be on creating secure digital identities for athletes and coaches. These identities could be used to verify qualifications and certifications worldwide.
The organizations also plan to develop new ways for fans to interact with sports through digital tools. Another area of focus is the tracking of sports equipment using trusted digital records.
In addition, the partnership aims to improve transparency in sports funding and incentive programs by using blockchain-based records that can be verified and audited.
The first pilot projects are expected to begin in the coming months.
Cardano expands real-world blockchain adoption
The agreement marks another real-world use case for blockchain technology beyond cryptocurrency and finance.
Marcelo Santos, Technology Manager at the Brazilian Olympic Committee, said the partnership places the organization at the forefront of digital innovation by combining blockchain, AI, and modern digital infrastructure.
Rafael Fraga, Cardano Foundation’s manager for Latin America, said the organization is excited to work with the Brazilian sports community and help drive technological transformation in the sector.
The partnership highlights growing interest in using blockchain technology to solve real-world challenges. If successful, the initiative could help modernize sports administration in Brazil while demonstrating how blockchain can improve trust, transparency, and efficiency in large organizations.
Notably, Cardano (ADA) entered a critical accumulation phase, even as investor sentiment remains deeply negative. According to the analytics firm, average wallet returns have dropped by roughly 43% over the past year, while ADA itself has plunged more than 70% since September.
