The official X account of the Layer 1 blockchain project Monad was suspended without any warning on April 28 2026. This led to significant market uncertainty. After the Monad handle disappeared, the price of the project’s native token, MON, fell by 8.6% over 24 hours. It fell to around $0.029.

Was the suspension a problem, or was it done on purpose?
The suspension occurred when Monad was very active. The project had just moved its mainnet in late 2025. Keone Hon, a co-founder of Monad, spoke to the community through his account. He said that the project was not doing anything or misusing the API. Hon thought that the suspension was probably a mistake. He also said that the team had reached out to X support in ways to try to fix the problem.
Some people who watch the industry think that Monad might have been affected by a cleanup by X. There are reports that X started using AI-driven filters more in April 2026 to get rid of bots. Sometimes these filters flag accounts that’re legitimate but behave like bots.
Market reaction to the suspension
The lack of an official channel for communication made investors less confident. This is shown in the price of the MON token. Even though the token is still up by 30% in the past month, the 8.6% drop shows how much social media can affect the value of cryptocurrency.
This is similar to what happened in the past, when X suspended but later restored the accounts of Shaw Walters and his AI platform, ElizaOS, after a six-month ban, triggering a 150%+ token price surge and pushing its market cap to $48 million. Eliza Labs had sued X, alleging it was deplatformed after sharing its AI roadmap with X, which then demanded up to $50,000/month for an enterprise license, an alleged anticompetitive move to stifle rivalry with X’s own AI product, Grok.
Meanwhile, Monad just changed its system to make message checks cheaper. This change is very good for the system because it uses a way to verify messages that is faster and more secure.
