Early this morning, cyn dogelover, a Twitter user, raised the alarm about the reactivation of previously suspended Dogecoin-related Twitter accounts.
The user tagged Twitter and Elon Musk to bring the incident to their attention. Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin, commented, saying those accounts were wrongfully suspended as they only posted memes and positivity and didn’t violate any Twitter rules.
Elon Musk replied to the thread, stating that the team was strict with spam suspensions and would soon go into “chill mode.”
Billy Markus confirmed that the accounts were back to normal a few hours later. He tweeted, “Welcome back doge accounts. ty @elonmusk,”
Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, there has been speculation about the reinstatement of banned accounts. The new Twitter CEO conducted a poll to find out what a majority of users preferred.
Over 3.16 million users responded, with 72.4% voting to release banned accounts.
Since then, some accounts, including former POTUS Donald Trump’s, have been reactivated. Musk expressed his thoughts on the platform’s content policy, saying, “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.”
Dogecoin, the meme coin, has recently been in the news due to speculations about its potential use for payment services on Twitter. According to Business Insider, Musk plans to integrate payment services on Twitter. According to data from CoinMarketCap, the token’s price had rallied by 40% last week, outperforming Bitcoin and Ethereum.
