Semler Scientific (Nasdaq: SMLR) has made a significant expansion to its bitcoin holdings, acquiring 871 bitcoins for $88.5 million between January 11 and February 3, 2025, as stated in the company’s official announcement.
This purchase was funded by proceeds from senior convertible notes offering and the partial monetization of its investment in Monarch Medical Technologies. With this acquisition, Semler Scientific’s total bitcoin reserves now stand at 3,192 BTC, valued at approximately $280.4 million.
Building on its recent success, Semler reported a BTC yield of 21.9% from January 1 to February 3, 2025. Since launching its bitcoin treasury strategy in July 2024, the company has achieved a year-to-date BTC yield of 152.2%, signalling the effectiveness of its investment strategy in enhancing shareholder value.
Between December 16, 2024, and January 10, 2025, Semler acquired 237 bitcoins for $23.3 million, increasing its total holdings to 2,321 BTC at $191.9 million. The company also raised approximately $121.8 million through its at-the-market (ATM) offering, boosting available capital to $150 million. Over the period from October 1, 2024, to January 10, 2025, Semler achieved a BTC yield of 72.6%, and since July 2024, the yield reached 99.3%.
Chairman Eric Semler highlighted the company’s progress, attributing it to the oversubscription of its convertible notes offering and the strategic monetization of its investment in Monarch Medical, which enabled further investment in bitcoin and bolstered its reserves.
Similarly, Genius Group, a Singapore-based AI and education firm, recently expanded its bitcoin reserves to 440 BTC following a $2 million investment. They invested $42 million in Bitcoin at an average price of $95,519 per BTC. By January 31, 2025, their Bitcoin treasury was valued at $46 million, exceeding their market capitalization of $33.1 million, with a BTC/Price ratio of 139%, highlighting the significance of their crypto investments.
