The Uniswap Foundation has officially announced that the anticipated Uniswap V4 is slated for release in the third quarter of 2024.
This launch will follow the Ethereum Dencun upgrade, which is scheduled for March 2024.
The Dencun upgrade’s inclusion of EIP-1153 will unlock the potential for Uniswap V4 to leverage flash storage, ultimately optimizing gas fees. Though it experienced a minor delay on the Goerli testnet, the Dencun upgrade has successfully been deployed on three testnets, including Sepolia and Holesky testnets and is on track for its imminent mainnet launch.

The announcement has generated significant buzz because the launch promises substantial enhancements for the protocol users and the entire DeFi community.
A key feature of Uniswap V4 is the introduction of “hooks,” which brings dynamic adjustments and versatile applications that have the potential to reduce fees for users.
Hooks, according to the Uniswap Foundation, allow the execution of customized code during specific events within a pool, and thus, it makes Uniswap V4 a flexible and adaptable platform.
The feature introduces various capabilities, from on-chain limit orders to time-weighted average market making and liquidity management through lending protocols. Additionally, it enables users to comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, contributing to more secure and compliant participation in the DeFi ecosystem.
Uniswap V4 will also support native ETH as a tradable asset. This means it will enable direct swaps between Ether and ERC-20 tokens without the need for wrapping.
The Uniswap Foundation emphasized its commitment to rigorous security measures to ensure a seamless launch. The V4 code has been undergoing extensive auditing, according to the team. The code is currently undergoing evaluations by internal and community experts with the aim of providing users with a secure and robust platform.
