Bitfinex is a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2012 by Raphael Nicolle and Giancarlo Devasini. It is intended for professional traders and institutions, offering support for both fiat and cryptocurrency.
In addition to spot and margin trading, the exchange offers products such as margin lending, margin funding, paired trading, over-the-counter (OTC) trading, Bitfinex Borrow, Bitfinex Pay, Bitfinex Pulse, an affiliate program, an API, and its native utility token UNUS SED LEO.
Bitfinex supports 270+ cryptocurrencies and has a wide array of trading pairs. Fees for crypto-to-crypto/stablecoin/fiat trading are 0.10% for makers and 0.20% for takers, while fees for crypto derivatives are 0.020% for makers and 0.065% for takers. Users can receive a 15%-25% discount on their trading fees by holding UNUS SED LEO tokens.
Bitfinex offers leverage of up to 10X to qualified users, who can access funds through its P2P margin funding platform. The exchange is not available in Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, the US, Canada, the British Virgin Islands, Venezuela, Austria, or Italy.
