CZ Says Trust Wallet Could Simplify Its ‘Ignore Coins’ Feature

Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao expects Trust Wallet to make its existing token-hiding feature easier to access after unsolicited meme coins and other assets filled his public wallet.

Zhao said on August 17 that he had underestimated the usefulness of the feature. According to him, Trust Wallet’s team confirmed that users can already ignore unwanted coins, but reaching the option currently takes five steps.

CZ points to easier access for unwanted tokens

Zhao said the Trust Wallet team had seen the discussion around unwanted tokens and explained that the Ignore coins option is already available.

He added that he expects Trust Wallet to make changes to the feature soon. However, Trust Wallet has not announced an update, confirmed a new design or provided a release date.

The expected change would make it easier for users to hide spam, dust and unsupported tokens from their wallet view. It would not delete those assets from the blockchain or stop another address from sending tokens to the wallet.

Trust Wallet cannot remove the unwanted tokens

Public blockchain addresses can receive compatible assets without the owner approving each transfer. Wallet applications only display blockchain data, meaning they cannot reverse a valid transaction.

Hiding a token is also different from burning it. An ignored asset remains recorded onchain and can still be viewed through blockchain explorers. Trust Wallet earlier warned users about fraudulent airdrops and copycat tokens. Unknown assets can contain links designed to push users toward scams, making interaction with unsolicited tokens risky.

What CZ’s retired wallet reveals about token spam

Zhao had earlier decided to stop using a public wallet after users repeatedly sent meme coins and other BNB Chain tokens to the address. He previously moved about $965,000 to Giggle Academy before retiring the wallet. Onchain trackers reported transfers of around 1,440 BNB and 182,620 Binance Life tokens.

The episode shows the issue of public wallets belonging to well-known crypto figures, as a token appearing in such an address does not mean the owner bought, approved or endorsed it. He earlier warned the crypto community about scammers using fake accounts and urged them to be careful in their transactions.

Poor wallet UX remains a barrier to mainstream crypto adoption

The five-click process highlighted by CZ points to a bigger problem of wallet interfaces can still be difficult for everyday users to navigate. Many wallets place technical terms such as gas fees, slippage and network settings alongside basic account functions. Important tools, including token filtering, network switching and approval management, can also be buried in menus.

Crypto transactions are often irreversible, meaning a wrong address or mistaken approval can result in permanent losses. Unlike traditional banking apps, users may have limited options to recover funds after an error.

Better wallet design could reduce that barrier. Account abstraction and intent-based systems are among the approaches being developed to hide some blockchain complexity from users. Features such as social recovery, bundled transactions and simpler token management could make crypto wallets feel closer to familiar fintech applications.

For mainstream adoption, making wallets easier to understand may be just as important as improving the underlying blockchain technology.
