Ethereum Foundation Appoints Privacy Advocate Pcaversaccio to Board of Directors

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has appointed longtime Ethereum contributor and security researcher Pcaversaccio to its board of directors, adding a prominent privacy advocate as the organization continues reshaping its leadership and technical priorities.

The appointment, announced on July 29, comes after months of internal restructuring that included leadership changes, workforce reductions and a renewed focus on Ethereum’s core protocol development.

Pcaversaccio is widely recognized within the Ethereum ecosystem for his work on developer tools, protocol security and privacy. Most recently, he contributed to the Create2Deployer tool released on July 16 and previously provided input on the foundation’s treasury policy introduced in June 2025.

Why the Ethereum Foundation chose Pcaversaccio

Beyond his development work, Pcaversaccio co-founded SEAL 911, an emergency security response initiative that helps blockchain projects respond quickly to exploits and cyberattacks. The group has become known for coordinating rapid assistance during major security incidents across the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

He is also a member of the Silviculture Society and authored the Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto, which promotes privacy, individual freedom and resistance to surveillance as key principles for Ethereum’s future.

Leadership changes reshape the Ethereum Foundation

The board appointment follows a period of significant changes inside the Ethereum Foundation.

Earlier this year, both co-executive directors stepped down, while the organisation reduced its workforce by about 20% as part of a broader restructuring. The foundation also consolidated its engineering efforts into a dedicated Protocol division to place greater focus on Ethereum’s core technology.

Following the latest appointment, the foundation’s board now includes President Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Patrick Storchenegger and pcaversaccio.

What the appointment could mean for Ethereum

Bringing a privacy advocate and security specialist onto the board shows that the Ethereum Foundation intends to keep both issues high on its long-term agenda.

The move comes as regulators continue increasing scrutiny of crypto privacy technologies, while security breaches remain a major challenge for decentralized finance. Pcaversaccio’s background in security response and protocol development could strengthen the foundation’s efforts to improve Ethereum’s infrastructure and ecosystem resilience.

The appointment also aligns with the foundation’s strategy of operating with a leaner structure while concentrating resources on advancing Ethereum’s core protocol and long-term development.
