WhiteBIT EU Secures MiCA License in Austria, Expands Regulated Crypto Services Across Europe

WhiteBIT EU has received authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA), a major milestone for the cryptocurrency exchange as Europe moves toward a stricter regulatory framework.

The approval allows WhiteBIT EU, operating through WB-Shield Innovations GmbH, to offer regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area (EEA). Through MiCA’s passporting mechanism, the exchange can provide services in up to 30 European countries under a single regulatory authorization.

MiCA approval strengthens WhiteBIT’s position

The license enables WhiteBIT EU to offer a range of crypto services, including digital asset trading, custody, and related products, under the EU’s unified regulatory framework.

MiCA was introduced to establish common rules for crypto companies across the bloc, focusing on consumer protection, transparency, governance standards, market integrity, and operational resilience. As transitional periods near their end in several jurisdictions, regulators are increasing pressure on crypto firms to meet the new requirements or exit the market.

Austria’s FMA is considered one of Europe’s more demanding financial regulators, making the approval a notable achievement for WhiteBIT as competition intensifies among exchanges seeking regulatory certainty.

Are evolving MiCA standards reshaping the European crypto sector?

Industry estimates suggest that only a limited number of firms have secured full authorization, while many operators that previously relied on national registrations or temporary arrangements are still working toward compliance.

With important deadlines approaching in 2026, several exchanges could face restrictions, business restructuring, or market exits if they fail to obtain approval. The result is expected to be increased consolidation, with licensed operators gaining a stronger foothold in the region.

WhiteBIT’s approval places the exchange among a relatively small group of companies authorized to operate under the new framework across the EEA.

Dedicated platform planned for European users

Alongside the regulatory approval, WhiteBIT is preparing to launch WhiteBIT.eu, a platform designed specifically for EEA customers.

The exchange said the platform will operate fully within MiCA requirements and provide compliant access to its services for both retail and institutional users. Meanwhile, B2C2 secured a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, marking a major step in its European expansion under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

Founded in 2018, WhiteBIT has grown into one of Europe’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, serving more than 35 million users globally. The Austrian MiCA authorization is expected to strengthen its expansion plans and position it to capture growing demand for regulated crypto services across Europe.
