Pi Network has updated its Launchpad system after testing feedback from its first test token launch. The upgrade introduces a simpler participation process and a new test token, SLICE, aimed at improving how users interact with token launches in its ecosystem.
One of the purposes of the Pi Launchpad test token launches is to introduce Pioneers to new ecosystem token mechanics and educate the community on how to participate with DeFi mechanisms.

The first test showed confusion in staking and participation
The first test token, IRRA, involved over 478,000 users staking about 36.05 million Test-Pi, while more than 198,000 users committed 14.72 million Test-Pi to the token. However, Pi Network said the process was too complex for many users.
Users struggled to understand the difference between staking and committing. Some also dropped out mid-process because the steps were split across different screens. These issues made it harder for users to complete participation smoothly.
New system simplifies how users join token launches
The updated Launchpad now focuses on a single action: commitment amount. Users choose how much Test-Pi they want to commit, and the system automatically calculates a “fair-access hold” based on a fixed rule.
This hold is designed to prevent large holders from dominating token access while still allowing smaller users to participate. The process has also been moved into one screen, where users can see commitment, hold, and total amounts before confirming.
Pi Network said the changes are meant to make the system easier to use and reduce confusion, especially for new users entering decentralized finance tools for the first time.
Token launches are becoming live product experiments, not just distribution events
Many earlier token launch platforms, including early decentralized exchange launchpads and ICO-style systems, struggled with similar issues where complex rules discouraged participation or created confusion for users.
Projects in the past have tried different solutions, such as lottery-based allocations or fixed subscription caps. However, most systems still face the same challenge of making sure whales do not dominate while keeping the process easy enough for mass users. Even major launch platforms in decentralized finance have repeatedly updated their models after user feedback, showing that token distribution design is still an evolving area.
Pi Network’s update highlights how user experience is becoming just as important as token mechanics. As more networks try to bring non-technical users into crypto, launch systems are being redesigned to feel closer to a simple app onboarding rather than complex financial procedures.
Meanwhile, Pi Network partnered with CiDi Games to push Web3 gaming adoption and expand real-world use cases for its Pi token. The collaboration will integrate Pi into CiDi Games’ upcoming titles, allowing tens of millions of Pioneers to use the cryptocurrency for in-game transactions, rewards, and payments
