Financial infrastructure provider OpenPayd has secured authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, allowing the company to expand regulated stablecoin and digital asset services across the European Economic Area (EEA).
The approval enables OpenPayd to operate as a regulated Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under a single European license. The company said the authorization will allow it to offer services including fiat-to-stablecoin conversions, custody, wallet infrastructure, and stablecoin transfers across major blockchain networks.
The development comes a year after OpenPayd launched its stablecoin infrastructure platform. Since then, the company said businesses have increasingly used its services for treasury management, settlement, and cross-border payments. OpenPayd currently processes more than $240 billion in annualized transaction volume for over 1,100 businesses worldwide, including clients such as Kraken, eToro, OKX, and B2C2.

Single platform for fiat and digital assets
According to the company, the MiCA authorization allows businesses to access both traditional financial services and digital asset infrastructure through a single API.
Chief Executive Officer Iana Dimitrova said stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important part of financial infrastructure and that MiCA provides businesses with greater confidence to use digital asset technology for payments and treasury operations.
OpenPayd said the authorization builds its strategy of building regulated infrastructure that connects banking systems with digital asset networks.
How fast are businesses racing to own stablecoin systems?
The approval also shows increasing competition among firms looking to become the backbone of stablecoin payments and settlements. Companies such as Ripple, Circle, BVNK, and Fireblocks are pushing services that help businesses move money between traditional finance and blockchain networks.
Businesses are increasingly looking for faster cross-border payments, round-the-clock settlements, and simpler ways to manage both fiat currencies and stablecoins.
As competition grows, companies with strong regulatory approvals, banking connections, and payment infrastructure are positioning themselves to capture a larger share of the emerging stablecoin payments market.
In another MiCA development, Ripple received preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence in Luxembourg, bringing the company closer to offering regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area under the MiCA framework.
