Strategic bet on regulated digital asset infrastructure
The investment positions YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs and now the $10 billion investment arm of Changpeng Zhao, as a major institutional backer of regulated crypto infrastructure at a time when traditional capital markets are increasingly converging with digital asset rails.
BitGo is a U.S.-regulated, institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure provider offering qualified custody and a full suite of services, including staking and stablecoin issuance. The company operates across multiple jurisdictions, supported by a compliance framework spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. YZi Labs said the investment reflects its conviction that compliant custody and security platforms will be essential to onboarding the next wave of institutional capital into crypto markets.
BitGo expands institutional reach as public company
Founded in 2013, BitGo currently secures over $82 billion in assets on the platform and serves more than 5,100 institutional clients across 100 countries. Beyond custody, the firm provides staking-as-a-service and stablecoin-as-a-service, enabling banks and enterprises to issue compliant, white-label stablecoins using its infrastructure. BitGo operates BitGo Bank & Trust, a national trust bank regulated by the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and maintains SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II certifications.
YZi Labs highlighted BitGo’s decade-long hack-free security record and vertically integrated model as key factors behind the investment. With its public listing, BitGo aims to scale its role as core infrastructure for the digital asset economy, supporting custody, settlement, and token management for institutional participants.
Separately, YZi Labs recently invested $50 million in Better Payment Network to support the development of a programmable global payments infrastructure powered by stablecoins, reinforcing its broader focus on crypto-native financial systems.
