KuCoin Expands Australian Presence With New Sydney Office and Local Leadership Push

Quick Breakdown

  • KuCoin opens a new Sydney headquarters to deepen its presence in Australia’s growing crypto market.
  • James Pinch appointed Managing Director to drive local compliance, security, and institutional engagement.
  • Exchange boosts visibility through industry partnerships and participation in the Australian Crypto Convention 2025.

KuCoin is stepping up its global expansion with a major push into Australia, opening a new headquarters in Sydney and naming financial services veteran James Pinch as its Australian Managing Director. It’s one of the company’s largest regional investments to date and comes as regulations tighten and demand grows for secure, compliant crypto platforms.

Building local infrastructure for a growing market

The Sydney CBD office will act as KuCoin’s operational base, supporting newly created roles across compliance, cybersecurity, operations, and product development over the next year. The investment aligns with Australia’s rapidly expanding digital-asset sector, projected to approach US$1.2bn by 2026.

Pinch, who has a background across Australian finance, M&A, and fintech innovation, is tasked with strengthening KuCoin’s regulatory engagement and expanding local services. His experience building businesses focused on transparency and operational efficiency positions him to guide the exchange through Australia’s evolving crypto oversight landscape.

KuCoin executives say the appointment signals the company’s commitment to embedding long-term capabilities rather than operating remotely. It aims to provide institutional-grade safeguards and deeper liquidity to meet rising expectations from both users and regulators.

Industry engagement and new brand partnerships

As part of its expansion, KuCoin will participate in the 2025 Australian Crypto Convention, underscoring its ambition to operate as a leading stakeholder in the local ecosystem. The exchange is also launching a partnership with professional golfer Adam Scott under the theme “Integrity First. Trading on KuCoin Next”, a campaign centred on reliability and market discipline.

Scott said KuCoin’s security-first approach reflects the level of precision and long-term thinking he values professionally, noting that the platform has set a high bar for transparency in crypto trading.

Since its launch in 2017, KuCoin has grown to over 40 million users globally and earned a suite of security certifications, including SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701:2025, and CCSS — making it the only major exchange to hold all four.
