Global cryptocurrency markets are reeling once again, with Bitcoin and altcoins dipping sharply on June 16, as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East intensify.
The downturn followed a wave of unsettling developments, including a stark warning from U.S. President Donald Trump and growing fears of a full-blown conflict between Israel and Iran.
Trump cut short his appearance at the annual G7 summit in Canada, returning to Washington abruptly on June 16. According to Fox News, the president instructed the National Security Council to convene in the White House Situation Room upon his arrival.

The urgency was amplified by a dramatic message Trump posted on Truth Social just hours earlier, stating:
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Trump’s early departure, citing escalating hostilities in the Middle East as the reason.
“Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,”
Leavitt told CBS News.
Speaking briefly to reporters before his departure, Trump added,
“I have to be back early for obvious reasons.”
Bitcoin prices reacted immediately with a sharp 2% decline, shedding more than $2,000 over the past few hours, according to TradingView. Bitcoin had earlier strengthened to an intraday high of $108,780, but the latest news sent it back to $106,421 before a minor recovery.
As regional instability worsens, embassies around the world are urging citizens to flee affected areas. The Chinese embassy in Israel issued a safety alert, encouraging Chinese nationals to exit via land borders immediately, according to Reuters.
“At present, the Israeli-Iranian conflict continues to escalate, with civilian facilities damaged and civilian casualties increasing, making the security situation even more severe,”
the embassy warned on WeChat.
Similarly, Russia’s Ambassador to Israel, Anatoly Viktorov, advised Russian citizens to leave the country until tensions subside, echoing broader concerns about a wider regional confrontation.
