Neon EVM, the first Ethereum EVM on Solana, is set to launch on December 12, 2022. Marina Guryeva, CEO and co-founder of Neon Labs, announced the news at Solana’s Breakpoint event. She acknowledged the team’s dedication and commitment behind the scenes in making Neon EVM a reality.
🧵1/ Mission Accomplished!🫡
We are excited to announce that the Neon EVM will go LIVE on MAINNET 12.12.22, making it the first #EVM on @Solana!#Ethereum-based dApps will have access to Solana’s scalability & liquidity without change to the codebase!👇https://t.co/l3GAwpgqCJ

Neon EVM is a smart contract solution that allows Ethereum developers to deploy applications and build new dApps on the Solana blockchain. This was previously impossible due to incompatibility between the two blockchains’ smart contracts.
The introduction of the Neon EVM will benefit both blockchains significantly. Ethereum will have complete access to Solanas’ user base and liquidity.
Marina shared her thoughts during the conference, saying,
“Neon EVM unites the best of two worlds, Ethereum and Solana, and puts to rest the Ethereum killer narrative once and for all. Ethereum-based projects can, for the first time, tap into the previously inaccessible audience and liquidity of Solana without needing to rewrite their code in Rust. As a result, users will now get to enjoy enhanced user experiences on Solana without losing out on Ethereum’s battle-tested dApps.”
Solana itself has been making newsworthy moves lately. On Saturday, November 5, Google Cloud and Solana made headlines. Google Cloud is developing a block to help validate the Solana blockchain. This marks the beginning of a new integration of Web2 and Web3 technology.
The $SOL token increased by 15% due to the news. AAVE, Curve, and other projects have demonstrated their support by preparing to deploy as soon as the mainnet goes live.
Solana and Ethereum’s partnership will lead to collaboration among other blockchains. It’s a step toward interoperability between networks for the advancement of Web3.
