KuCoin continues its global expansion by launching a fully licensed crypto-trading platform in Thailand.
The platform, operated through ERX Company Limited, has successfully secured a digital asset exchange license from Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission, enabling it to operate legally in the country.
As part of the collaboration, ERX has rebranded as KuCoin Thailand, providing a locally regulated platform that allows Thai users to buy, sell, and trade digital assets. ERX CEO Att Tongyai Asavanund expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing that KuCoin’s vast global infrastructure and resources would empower the company “to roll out solutions specifically designed for Thai users.”
In addition, all existing ERX accounts have already been migrated to the newly updated platform, which combines KuCoin’s international trading expertise with personalized local customer support. New and existing users can now access the platform via the KuCoin TH mobile app, available for download on Android and iOS devices.
Henry Chen, Board Director at ERX, stated,
“Our goal is to build a leading digital asset platform in Thailand with a global vision, institutional-grade service, and cutting-edge technology.”
While the Thai expansion marks a significant milestone for KuCoin, it comes when the exchange faces challenges in South Korea. In March, South Korean regulators forced Google Play and the App Store to remove the KuCoin app, citing the exchange’s lack of local registration.
Despite these setbacks, KuCoin’s global footprint continues to grow. In 2024, the exchange saw a surge in adoption across Latin America and the Middle East, pushing its total user base to nearly 40 million. Notably, trading volumes in the MENA region tripled, and European activity surged by 144% compared to the previous year. In addition to expanding its reach, KuCoin broadened its service offerings in January with the launch of KuCoin Pay, a new payment platform allowing merchants to accept cryptocurrency transactions, further strengthening its position in the global digital asset ecosystem.
