i2 Group has partnered strategically with Chainalysis to integrate cryptocurrency insights into i2’s Analyst’s Notebook software. This collaboration aims to enhance tools for public sector investigations.
The new solution enables users to incorporate blockchain transaction data alongside traditional datasets, enhancing their ability to uncover and analyze complex criminal networks. This innovation aims to assist law enforcement and intelligence agencies in identifying and combating criminal, terrorist, and fraudulent activities, particularly those involving cryptocurrencies.
Historically, users of Analyst’s Notebook utilized off-chain data sources like geospatial information. The rise of cryptocurrencies in various crimes has created a need for improved cryptocurrency intelligence to address this gap.
The partnership integrates Chainalysis’ on-chain cryptocurrency data into Analyst’s Notebook via a dedicated connector. This development provides investigators valuable insights into illicit financial flows, filling a significant gap in their analyses.
President of Chainalysis Government Solutions, Kevin O’Brien, emphasized the growing necessity for blockchain analysis across the public sector.
“The combination of Chainalysis’ on-chain data with i2’s link analysis platform marks a significant advancement in our mission to arm public sector agencies with the comprehensive blockchain insights they need to uncover complex illicit networks.”,
he stated.
Jamie Caffrey, Executive Vice President at i2 Group, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to improve public sector investigations. Stating,
“We are excited to partner with Chainalysis to bring on-chain data into our platform. This integration will enhance the capabilities of our users, particularly in the public sector, by providing a more holistic view of data and improving the quality of their investigations,”
Chainalysis customers can now directly integrate data from the Investigations API into the Analyst’s Notebook by inputting their API key. This process facilitates secure and efficient access to combined datasets, enhancing investigators’ ability to derive actionable insights.
Building on its commitment to combating cryptocurrency-related crimes, Chainalysis also announced plans to expand its anti-phishing crypto scam initiative, “Operation Spincaster,” to additional countries in the coming months.
