European stablecoin issuer AllUnity has launched USDAU, a US dollar-pegged stablecoin designed to comply with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The token is backed 1:1 by segregated reserve assets, while holders have a statutory right to redeem USDAU at par value under MiCA’s E-Money Token (EMT) framework.
USDAU launched across Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Arc and Polygon, with additional blockchain integrations expected later this year. The launch also expands AllUnity’s multi-currency digital money network, which includes EURAU, CHFAU and SEKAU, pegged to the euro, Swiss franc and Swedish krona, respectively.

USDAU faces questions over liquidity and adoption
AllUnity CEO Alexander Höptner said the company’s concern is not with the US dollar itself, but with dollar liquidity entering Europe through offshore issuers without direct European supervision. He said USDAU is intended to bring dollar liquidity within Europe’s regulatory perimeter, particularly for trade and cross-border payments.
Institutional services provider Hercle welcomed the launch, highlighting deeper collaboration around FX and off-ramp services between USDAU and fiat currencies for institutional clients. The focus on converting between digital dollars and traditional currencies points to a practical use case beyond simply trading or holding the stablecoin.
We’re proud to deepen our collaboration with @AllUnity following the launch of USDAU, their MiCAR-compliant USD stablecoin!
As a dedicated FX and off-ramp partner, Hercle works closely with AllUnity to provide institutional clients with seamless, regulated conversions between USDAU and fiat currencies.

Other crypto commentators took a more cautious view, noting that exchange listings, trading pairs and available liquidity will ultimately determine how much USDAU is used. Some also pointed to limited initial information about the token’s reserve composition, supply and distribution strategy, leaving transparency and real-world adoption as key factors to watch as USDAU enters an already competitive dollar-stablecoin market.
Why USDAU matters for Europe’s dollar stablecoin gap
USDAU enters a stablecoin market where the U.S. dollar remains overwhelmingly dominant. The ECB reported that dollar-denominated stablecoins represented about 99% of circulating supply in late 2025, while euro-denominated stablecoins accounted for only around €395 million. The ECB has also warned that widespread dollar stablecoin adoption could reinforce dollar dependence in European tokenized markets.
AllUnity’s model does not remove the dollar exposure, since USDAU remains pegged to the US currency, but it places the issuer and regulatory framework inside Europe. AllUnity operates under a BaFin e-money institution licence and issues MiCAR-compliant stablecoins that are redeemable 1:1 for fiat. This gives European businesses an alternative for accessing dollar-denominated digital liquidity through a regulated European entity.
USDAU vs USDT and USDC: what makes it different?
Tether’s USDT has a market capitalization of more than $180 billion, while Circle’s USDC is above $75 billion. Their much larger circulation gives them established liquidity and widespread use across crypto exchanges, payments and DeFi.

The main difference with USDAU is where and how it is regulated. USDT is issued by Tether, while USDC is issued by Circle. USDAU comes from AllUnity, a European issuer operating under Germany’s regulatory framework. For European businesses, this could make USDAU particularly relevant where compliance with EU crypto rules and access to a regulated European issuer are important considerations.
However, regulation alone does not guarantee adoption. USDT and USDC already have years of market usage, deep liquidity and extensive integration across crypto platforms. USDAU therefore needs to attract enough businesses, exchanges and financial institutions to make the token useful at scale.
What USDAU’s launch means for investors
For investors watching AllUnity’s commercial growth, USDAU provides a new metric for measuring whether the company can turn its stablecoin infrastructure into real institutional activity. AllUnity says its stablecoins are currently designed for business customers rather than retail users, with use cases including payments, liquidity management and on-chain settlement.
The size of AllUnity’s existing stablecoin base also provides an early reference point. CoinGecko data cited on September 30 puts EURAU at about $400,000 in market capitalization and CHFAU at roughly $45 million. USDAU’s future circulation can therefore give investors a measurable indication of whether demand for AllUnity’s multi-currency platform is expanding beyond its existing products.
AllUnity also says its ecosystem includes banks, exchanges, custodians, market makers, FX providers and treasury systems, while its partners include Flow Traders, which connects to 180 exchanges and more than 2,000 institutional counterparties. For investors assessing the launch, growth in institutional integrations, transaction activity and USDAU circulation will be more meaningful indicators of traction than the token’s launch alone.
