Ripple Invests in ZILO and Licuido to Expand XRPL Digital Asset Infrastructure

Ripple has announced strategic investments in UK fintech ZILO and tokenization provider Licuido to build digital capital markets infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

The move aims to add regulated token issuance, transfer agency services, and collateral mobility directly into XRPL-based financial tools.

By partnering with ZILO, a firm focused on modernizing transfer agency systems for asset managers, and Licuido, the infrastructure provider powering recent fund deployments, Ripple is positioning XRPL as a platform for institutional real-world asset (RWA) tokenization.

Ripple continues expanding its institutional tokenization tools

The investments follow the launch of a tokenized share class for Aviva Investors’ US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger on July 29, 2026. Approved by the Central Bank of Ireland under the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) framework, the fund uses Licuido’s infrastructure and Komainu’s custody setup.

This initiative operates on a “digital twin” model, creating an onchain mirror of fund shares while preserving traditional off-chain fund structures. Institutional investors gain access to onchain liquidity and instant collateral management without disrupting established regulatory compliance standards.

How this partnership affects traditional asset management onchain

Institutional tokenization has moved beyond pilot programs and into live, regulated money market fund deployments. Asset managers such as BlackRock and Franklin Templeton are using digital transfer agency tools to enable around-the-clock operations, programmable compliance, and faster settlement, while also reducing operational costs and improving asset mobility across trading venues.

Ripple’s support for ZILO and Licuido also points to an extending push to position the XRP Ledger as an essential infrastructure layer for enterprise finance. Those efforts build on earlier institutional pilots across Europe and Asia, reinforcing Ripple’s ambition to make XRPL a practical ledger for regulated financial applications.

Meanwhile, Ripple backed a UK roadmap led by Wholesale Digital Markets Champion Chris Woolard, bringing together 54 firms to move tokenized funds, gilts, and repo trades from pilots into live markets. The plan targets a first end-to-end tokenized repo deal by spring 2027 and a digital gilt soon after.
