The mobile app of global crypto exchange Binance has reportedly disappeared from the Philippine version of the Google Play Store. This has raised new questions about the platform’s status in the country. Users looking for the app are being redirected to alternatives like Coins.ph or region-specific versions such as Binance TH and Binance TR, according to local reports.

This situation has sparked speculation among local users. Some are wondering if the removal indicates a technical issue or a larger exit from the Philippine market. A Reddit user named “realitynofantasy” expressed concerns on the official Binance subreddit after noticing the app was gone.
Users report website access issues
Users report website access issues in addition to the app removal, with some users in the Philippines having reported trouble accessing Binance’s main website. Screenshots shared online show error messages like “Privacy Error” and “Site can’t be reached.” This suggests there could be access restrictions.
At the time of reporting, Binance had not released an official statement explaining the app’s unavailability or the reported website issues. The silence has further fueled speculation among traders and users in the region.
Regulatory crackdown may be behind the move
The development comes amid ongoing enforcement efforts by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission and the National Telecommunications Commission against foreign crypto exchanges operating without local licenses.
In late 2024, the SEC reportedly urged major app store operators to remove Binance from Philippine platforms, arguing that the exchange was offering unregistered securities and operating as an unlicensed broker under local securities laws. The NTC had earlier moved to block access to Binance’s website nationwide.
The Philippines is not the only country tightening oversight of offshore exchanges. Similar regulatory actions have taken place elsewhere, including in India, where Binance faced penalties before it resumed operations as a registered entity.
