KuCoin has announced a strategic partnership between KuCoin Institutional and Cactus Custody, the digital asset arm of Matrixport, to enhance institutional security, trading efficiency, and capital flexibility through a new off-exchange settlement system.
The collaboration integrates Cactus Oasis, Cactus Custody’s Off-Exchange Settlement (OES) framework, which allows institutional clients to trade on KuCoin without pre-funding exchange wallets. Instead, assets remain under the secure custody of Cactus Custody until transactions are executed, ensuring both regulatory compliance and asset protection.

Enabling secure institutional market access
With this system, institutional clients can access KuCoin’s deep liquidity across spot, margin, options, and perpetual futures markets while maintaining full asset segregation and protection. Cactus Custody leverages multi-signature wallets, cold storage, and ISO-certified controls to safeguard client funds.
Wendy Jiang, General Manager at Cactus Custody, said the partnership reflects a shared mission to “advance digital asset security standards and provide seamless market access.” She added that Cactus Oasis merges institutional-grade security with operational efficiency, broadening clients’ ability to trade securely across venues.
Building Trust: The KuCoin $2 Billion Project and Multi-Partner Custody
The partnership builds on the momentum of KuCoin’s $2 Billion Trust Project, which focuses on transparency and risk management for institutional investors. By integrating Cactus Custody, KuCoin Institutional expands its multi-partner ecosystem, providing clients with more flexibility in selecting custodians that align with their operational and compliance needs.

The milestone follows KuCoin’s recent achievement of the CryptoCurrency Security Standard (CCSS) certification, making it the only major exchange to hold all four leading global security credentials — CCSS, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701:2025, and SOC 2 Type II.
