BitMine Boosts Ethereum Bet With $44M Purchase, Now Holds 3% of Total ETH Supply

Last updated on December 18th, 2025 at 08:04 am

Quick Breakdown

  • BitMine Immersion Technologies added 14,618 ETH in a new $44M acquisition, reinforcing its aggressive Ethereum accumulation strategy.
  • The company now controls about 3.63 million ETH, roughly 3% of all circulating coins valued at over $10B.
  • Analysts say the firm’s long-term staking plans could help trigger a corporate-driven Ethereum “supercycle.”

BitMine adds $44M in Ethereum as it inches toward 5% supply goal

Nasdaq-listed BitMine Immersion Technologies has deepened its commitment to Ethereum by purchasing 14,618 ETH, valued at approximately $44.34 million. The transaction was executed through institutional custodian BitGo at an average price of about $3,033 per ETH, according to blockchain analytics data.

With its latest acquisition, BitMine’s treasury now holds about 3.63 million ETH, equivalent to 3% of the total circulating supply and valued at more than $10 billion. This places the company roughly 60% of the way toward its ambitious target of controlling 5% of all ETH.

Industry-wide data from Strategic ETH Reserve shows that 68 corporate entities collectively hold 6.36 million ETH, or 5.26% of the supply. Despite BitMine’s massive position, its ETH portfolio trades at a 20% discount, with a market NAV (mNAV) of 0.80. The disparity suggests that investors may still be pricing in perceived risks or uncertainties surrounding the firm’s strategy.

A strategic pivot toward Ethereum

In early 2025, BitMine formally stepped away from Bitcoin mining and reshaped its business around building a dominant Ethereum-based treasury. To fund the shift, the firm raised over $7 billion through new share issuance, which has since been channelled into aggressive ETH accumulation.

A key part of this new focus is the Made in America Validator Network, a staking initiative scheduled for a 2026 pilot. The platform will allow BitMine to stake its own ETH, help secure the Ethereum blockchain, and earn staking rewards.

Ethereum “supercycle” speculation emerges

BitMine’s stockpiling strategy mirrors the approach long championed by Michael Saylor’s company, which has amassed 649,000 Bitcoin. Analysts say that if BitMine continues buying at its current pace, the corporate accumulation trend could fuel an Ethereum-led “supercycle”, driven by staking yields and increased validator participation.

For now, BitMine stands as the largest corporate holder of Ethereum, with its latest purchase signalling that the firm remains committed to shaping the future of institutional ETH ownership.
