Binance has introduced BTC Yield, a new product that allows Bitcoin holders to earn returns on their BTC without selling or actively trading options.
The product lets users subscribe with Bitcoin and receive BTCY, which earns yield through a Binance-managed covered call strategy. The strategy is designed for long-term Bitcoin holders who want additional returns while keeping exposure to the asset.
To mark the launch, Binance is also offering a 100,000 USDC Discount Buy prize pool for eligible participants, subject to the platform’s terms and conditions. The exchange said the product builds on the growth of Binance Earn, which has distributed more than $1.2 billion to stablecoin holders since 2022.

Bitcoin holders are looking beyond price gains
For years, many Bitcoin investors bought BTC and waited for its price to rise. That approach is still common, but more platforms now offer products that let users earn income from Bitcoin without giving up ownership.
Covered call strategies have long been used in traditional finance to generate extra returns from stocks. Crypto exchanges are now adapting the same idea for digital assets, allowing users to earn yield while professionals manage the options strategy behind the scenes.
More exchanges are turning idle crypto into income
Binance is not the only company building products for long-term holders. Exchanges including Coinbase, OKX, Bybit, and Nexo have expanded their yield services over the past few years, giving users more ways to earn from assets that would otherwise remain unused.
The products differ in structure, with some relying on lending, staking, or options-based strategies. That gives users more choices based on the level of risk they are willing to accept. As Bitcoin ownership continues to grow, exchanges are competing not only on trading fees but also on how much value they can generate for customers who hold their coins.
BTC Yield adds another option for investors who want to keep their Bitcoin while earning additional returns, showing that exchanges are paying more attention to long-term holders instead of focusing only on active traders.
In another development, Binance is preparing to re-establish its presence in the Philippines after the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved BlockShoals Technologies Inc. to begin testing crypto-related financial products and services under its regulatory sandbox.
