Soaring BTC yield highlights rapid accumulation
Metaplanet’s disclosures show exceptional growth in its key performance metric, BTC Yield—the percentage change in Bitcoin held per fully diluted share. From July through September 22, the company achieved a 10.3% quarter-to-date yield, following a 129.4% surge in the previous quarter. Earlier periods recorded explosive gains of 309.8% in late 2024 and 95.6% in early 2025 as Metaplanet raised funds through equity offerings and bond redemptions to buy more Bitcoin. Fully diluted shares rose to 1.43 billion, yet the company continues to increase Bitcoin per share, underscoring the accretive impact of its treasury operations despite dilution.
Capital market moves fuel aggressive purchases
The company funded its acquisitions through a series of capital market activities, including the issuance of 385 million new common shares in September and multiple stock warrant exercises throughout the quarter. Proceeds were strategically allocated to Bitcoin purchases, with roughly ¥93.6 billion already deployed from the most recent international offering. Management says BTC Yield, BTC Gain, and BTC ¥ Gain—its proprietary metrics offer investors a clearer view of how these actions translate into net Bitcoin growth and local currency impact.
Meanwhile, the organization strengthened its Bitcoin treasury strategy with the acquisition of an additional 103 BTC, valued at ¥1.736 billion. The purchase was made at an average price of ¥16.85 million per Bitcoin, raising the company’s total holdings to 18,991 BTC.
