Movemaker, the official Chinese-speaking community for Aptos, and alcove, Asia’s pioneering Move developer organization, have launched a $200,000 open-source initiative aimed at enhancing the security and reliability of smart contracts on the Aptos blockchain.
This project, known as the Aptos Move Secure & General Purpose Base Library, seeks to provide developers within the crypto ecosystem with a trusted, reusable collection of smart contract modules. These modules cover critical areas, including access control, upgrade mechanisms, DeFi building blocks, and security utilities, addressing ongoing concerns about fragmented and inconsistent development practices in the Web3 space.

Leveraging the unique strengths of the Move programming language—such as resource-oriented programming and strong typing—the initiative aims to establish a new standard for smart contract security and efficiency on Aptos, a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain platform.
Kaito, a Core Contributor at Movemaker, emphasized the need for this effort:
“Despite Move’s inherent safety features, developers often rebuild critical components with inconsistent quality and limited audits. Our goal is to eliminate redundancy, enhance security, and accelerate dApp creation within the Aptos crypto ecosystem.”
Importantly, this initiative is community-driven and open to all Aptos developers. Governance and development will be conducted transparently on GitHub, featuring automated testing, formal verification through Move Prover, peer reviews, and bounty rewards to encourage broad collaboration.
The core offering includes a library of reusable contract modules, multi-language SDKs to simplify blockchain interactions, standardized APIs, developer tooling like VS Code plugins and debugging tools, and ready-to-use templates designed to speed up decentralized app development.
Together, Movemaker and alcove aim to unify the Aptos developer community and strengthen the blockchain’s smart contract infrastructure, supporting its growth amid the rapidly evolving crypto landscape.
In a related development, Aptos Labs—a core contributor to the Aptos Layer-1 blockchain—has successfully migrated the EXPO2025 DIGITAL WALLET onto the Aptos blockchain. This migration marks a pivotal step in enhancing the wallet’s performance and user experience ahead of Expo 2025 in Osaka, expected to attract over 28 million visitors between April and October 2025.
