KuCoin has announced a new partnership with BitGo Singapore to enhance institutional security through off-exchange settlement, marking a major advancement in its $2 billion “Trust Project.”
Revealed on June 19, the integration enables KuCoin’s institutional clients to trade without pre-funding their exchange wallets. Instead, assets are held in regulated custody under BitGo Singapore—a licensed Major Payment Institution regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). This model separates custody and execution, significantly reducing counterparty and systemic risk.

The partnership provides institutional clients with full access to KuCoin’s trading products, including spot, margin, options, and perpetual futures, while ensuring their assets remain off-exchange and fully protected. Additionally, BitGo Singapore offers qualified custody with insurance coverage of up to $250 million, along with automated post-trade settlement and delegated trading access, providing greater operational control.
According to KuCoin, the integration reflects a broader industry push for enhanced transparency and resilience in digital asset trading. Tika Lum, KuCoin’s Head of Institutional Business Development, emphasized that the partnership with BitGo Singapore is central to the exchange’s long-term strategy:
“Security and trust are the foundation for institutional adoption. This integration is a core part of our $2 Billion Trust Project and brings a more robust trading model to institutional clients globally.”
BitGo echoed the sentiment. Brett Reeves, Head of Go Network at BitGo, noted that working with KuCoin demonstrates how digital asset trading can evolve:
“This partnership lays the groundwork for a more efficient, secure, and compliant trading ecosystem exactly what the institutional market demands.”
With the trend of off-exchange settlement gaining momentum, KuCoin states that it will continue to collaborate with top-tier custody providers and compliance leaders to develop a more secure infrastructure for digital asset trading.
In addition to strengthening its institutional offerings, KuCoin is expanding its payment ecosystem. KuCoin Pay, the platform’s official crypto payments arm, recently entered a strategic partnership with Cryptorefills—a global provider of crypto-enabled travel and lifestyle services. This collaboration aims to make everyday crypto utility more accessible, further reinforcing KuCoin’s commitment to mainstream adoption.
