Brave Software has become the first browser to launch its own on-chain top-level domain, unveiling the new .brave domain in partnership with Unstoppable Domains.
This move opens up new possibilities for Brave’s 85 million monthly active users to own a digital identity, simplify cryptocurrency payments, and access the broader Web3 ecosystem.
Today, Brave becomes the first browser to launch an on-chain top-level domain: introducing .brave, in partnership with @unstoppableweb.

Minted on the Polygon blockchain, .brave domains are compatible with multiple networks, including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, and more, allowing seamless interaction across various decentralized platforms. The integration bridges mainstream browsing with Web3, enhancing user control over their online identity and assets.
Brian Bondy, Brave’s CTO and co-founder, said, “.brave is not just a domain—it represents a user-owned identity layer within the Brave ecosystem, putting privacy and control back in users’ hands.”
Users can claim personalized .brave domains through Unstoppable Domains, enabling features such as simplified crypto payments via Brave Wallet, hosting censorship-resistant websites on IPFS without hosting fees, and direct domain resolution within Brave browser and wallet (starting version 1.81, slated for August release).
The .brave domain also supports on-chain identity verification, showcasing digital assets and credentials within the Brave community. It connects with Unstoppable’s ecosystem, offering badge-gated messaging, domain trading, and easy access to decentralized apps and metaverses via “Login with Unstoppable.”
Sandy Carter, COO of Unstoppable Domains, described the launch as “a bold leap toward an open internet,” emphasizing the shift of digital identity ownership from centralized platforms to users themselves.
As part of the rollout, Unstoppable Domains joins Brave’s Rewards 3.0 Partner Program, expanding the reach of the Basic Attention Token (BAT), which now ranks as one of Ethereum’s top tokens with 1.5 million verified creators accepting it globally.
Looking ahead, Brave and Unstoppable Domains are exploring ICANN accreditation for .brave, which could enable the domain to function across both traditional Web2 and decentralized Web3 environments—a milestone for digital identity interoperability.
Building on this momentum, Brave announced its integration with Solana, a blockchain network known for addressing Ethereum’s speed and high transaction fee challenges. According to Brave’s blog, Solana’s high throughput and low costs make it an attractive choice.
