Crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) reportedly saw $527 million in inflows last week, marking their fourth consecutive week of growth.
However, market sentiment remains volatile due to broader economic uncertainties and changing investor attitudes.
James Butterfill, CoinShares’ head of research, highlighted the impact of DeepSeek on major U.S. tech firms like Nvidia, leading to $530 million in outflows early in the week. However, confidence returned, resulting in over $1 billion in inflows. Overall, crypto ETPs have seen $44 billion in inflows this year, with $5.3 billion in 2024, and the recent market correction was anticipated following a strong earlier rally.
The U.S. had inflows of $474 million last week, totalling $5 billion for the year. Europe saw $78 million in weekly inflows, reaching $93 million for the year, while Canada faced $43 million in outflows due to U.S. trade tariff concerns. Bitcoin-led investments, driven by spot Bitcoin ETFs, with BlackRock’s IBIT attracting $918 million, although major issuers like Fidelity, Grayscale, and Bitwise experienced $465 million in outflows that offset some gains.
Bitcoin saw inflows into short-Bitcoin products of $3.7 million for the week and $9 million for the year amid market uncertainty. XRP attracted $15 million last week, totalling $105 million in inflows due to positive on-chain activity and regulatory optimism. In contrast, Ethereum had neutral net flows, likely linked to the struggling tech sector. Meanwhile, this year, blockchain equities gained $160 million in inflows as investors seized recent price dips as opportunities.
Notably, CoinShares recently recorded nearly $2 billion in inflows into crypto investment products last week, with year-to-date inflows reaching $4.8 billion. Bitcoin dominated these inflows, capturing $1.6 billion (92% of the total) and bringing its yearly total to $4.4 billion. Short-Bitcoin ETFs attracted $5.1 million as a hedge against pullbacks. The U.S. led inflows with $1.7 billion, followed by Canada ($31 million), Switzerland ($35 million), and Germany ($23 million).
