Ledger hardware wallet users will soon be able to convert fiat currency into cryptocurrencies and vice versa directly on their devices.
The self-custody solutions provider recently announced a new partnership with Revolut to streamline crypto purchases with its solutions. The UK fintech giant will be integrated into Ledger’s products’ user management dashboard, Ledger Live, as a “buy provider.”
This means users with Revolut accounts could buy cryptocurrencies on Ledger Live instead of resorting to indirect methods like transferring to a crypto exchange. Users will also enjoy fast transaction times because the need for additional identity checks will be eliminated.
According to its press release, Ledger claimed the collaboration is designed to advance its mission of “complete self-custody for people’s financial assets and make buying crypto easier and more accessible than ever.”
Pascal Gauthier, Chairman and CEO of Ledger, stated,
“Cryptocurrency adoption is inevitable. Ensuring users can securely buy and sell digital assets with self-custody is crucial as more people enter the market. This partnership with Revolut underscores Ledger’s ongoing expansion in transaction services.”
Gauthier further noted that Revolut’s alignment with Ledger’s commitment to enhancing security and accessibility in the crypto space will enable more users to confidently transition from Web2 to Web3 and embrace self-custody benefits.
Notably, this move is part of Revolut’s gradual expansion into the digital asset space. The neobank recently launched a new platform, Revolut X, to compete with leading crypto exchanges by offering seamless on/off-ramping and low fees.
Though initially designed for professional traders, the platform is reportedly now accessible on desktops to all UK users with a Revolut retail account. It enables trading over 100 tokens with fixed fees of 0% for makers and 0.09% for takers, irrespective of trading volumes.
