Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor has announced the launch of their latest hardware wallet, the Trezor Safe 5, alongside a host of other features and services.
According to the company, the Trezor Safe 5 is designed for users who frequently interact with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It features a colour touch display with haptic feedback, an edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass protective display, and revamped firmware with intuitive micro-interactions and animations.
Trezor’s CEO, Matej Zak, demoed the new product at the BTC Prague conference today, on June 14, 2024. During his presentation, Zak emphasized the importance of secure self-custody solutions amid rising concerns over centralized exchanges and custodial services. He alluded to the broader challenges facing the cryptocurrency industry, including the significant losses—over $15 billion in 2022 alone—due to hacks, scams, and exchange bankruptcies.
Zak also highlighted the vulnerability of centralized institutions and reiterated Trezor’s commitment to empowering users through robust, decentralized solutions.
In addition to the Trezor Safe 5, the company introduced Trezor Expert, a personalized service aimed at educating and assisting users in effectively adopting self-custody practices. This service, which costs $99, received positive feedback during its soft launch, with all participants rating it highly for its quality and effectiveness.
Trezor also announced the continuation of its Bitcoin-only product line and noted that the new Safe 5 model will also come in that variety. The first Bitcoin-only edition, the Safe 3, price, has been immensely popular since its launch, leading to its permanent inclusion in Trezor’s product portfolio.
The company noted new products and services reaffirm its commitment to boost the adoption of self-custody practices in the crypto industry, and its general growth.
Conference attendees were invited to explore the new products at the Trezor booth, where they could interact with the Trezor Expert team and learn more about securing their digital assets.
