Gate Group, a cryptocurrency industry pioneer best known for its crypto exchange Gate.io, has announced plans to launch the Gate Visa debit card. The main objective of this move is to simplify cryptocurrency transactions for users in real-world transactions.
According to reports, the newly introduced Gate Visa debit card will provide users with a convenient way of converting their cryptocurrency holdings into fiat currency, enabling them to make in-person and online transactions effortlessly. Additionally, the card will offer users complete control over their spending, with integrated capabilities in the Gate Card app that allow them to track and manage their spending securely.
Users in most European Economic Area (EEA) member states can now register for the waiting list for the new card. The new card rollout is expected to expand to other regions soon.
Dr. Lin Han, the founder and CEO of Gate Group, said they are excited to bring this innovative product to the market. According to him, the product bridges the gap between cryptocurrency and daily life and makes consumers more financially included. He added that users of the Gate Visa card could make secure cryptocurrency payments to retailers worldwide.
According to Cuy Sheffield, the Head of Crypto at Visa, the company aims to connect the cryptocurrency ecosystem with its vast network of global businesses and financial institutions. Sheffield explained that Visa’s Gate Visa debit card program offers a convenient solution for Gate Group debit cardholders to convert and use their digital assets to buy products and services at any location that accepts Visa.
Last month, Gate.io began preparations to establish a new platform in Hong Kong called Gate HK, following the proposed capital injection of HKD 50 million ($6.4 million) into Web3 by the local government as part of the city’s 2023–2024 budget.
