Spotify, a major music streaming platform, is experimenting with a new feature called token-enabled playlists that allows owners of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to link their wallets and access curated music.
Currently, the service is only available to token owners in the Fluf, Moonbirds, Kingship, and Overlord communities. The selected playlists will be regularly updated during the three-month trial period and are only accessible to community members via a specific URL.

The Web3 game platform Overlord announced its partnership with Spotify on Twitter. Users who own Creepz NFTs on Spotify can now access the token-enabled, community-curated Overlord playlist through their Web3 wallets. However, the playlists can only be unlocked by Android users residing in Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and New Zealand.
Kingship also announced its participation in the pilot on Twitter, while Fluf and Moonbirds have yet to reveal any information about their collaboration with the streaming service. Users must possess a Kingship Key Card NFT to access the tracklist, which includes hits by Led Zeppelin, Queen, Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg, and more.
Apoorv Lathey, the lead developer for the NFT liquidity protocol NFTX, posted a screenshot from the pilot that guides users through the process of accessing the curated playlist created by Kingship on Spotify. The screenshot demonstrated how NFT owners could connect to their Metamask, Trust Wallet, Rainbow, Ledger Live, or Zerion wallets.
We, KINGSHIP strive to ALWAYS be at the forefront of technology and music.
Now, we’re taking this commitment a step further by launching a brand new token-enabled playlist with @Spotify!

A representative for Spotify stated that the company regularly conducts various tests to enhance the user experience, and these tests ultimately help shape their users’ experiences more broadly, while others serve as valuable lessons.
The international streaming platform has previously attempted to integrate NFTs into its service. In May 2022, Spotify tested NFT galleries on musician profiles. Users could preview the artists’ NFTs and were then directed to the OpenSea page, where they could make purchases, despite the lack of a direct buy option.
