On February 7, the Sandbox, a prominent metaverse player, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Saudi Arabian Digital Government Authority (DGA) during the Leap Tech Conference in Riyadh.
The co-founder and COO of the Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, stated that the MoU’s goal is to explore, consult, and assist one another in the development of the metaverse.

The MoU was signed by the co-founder of The Sandbox and the DGA of Saudi Arabia while they were both present at the Leap Tech Conference that was taking place in Riyadh. The tech conference kicked off on February 6 and is scheduled to wrap up on February 9.
According to Borget, the agreement will be made public in the coming weeks, although specific details are not yet available.
With the Middle East’s growing interest in Web3, the agreement between the Sandbox and the Saudi Arabian government is not surprising. Dubai aims to become a hub for the global cryptocurrency industry, and both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have aspirations for the mainstream adoption of Web3 and metaverse activities.
The Sandbox has partnered with well-known names in both the Web3 industry and beyond, such as Snoop Dogg, Gucci, TIME, Atari, HSBC, and Warner Music Group. As the metaverse continues to develop, users are encouraged to create their own mini-universes within the game’s virtual region known as “The Sandbox.”
