Meta Inc., the parent company of Facebook, has filed eight trademark applications covering various facets of the blockchain ecosystem such as metaverse and crypto services. According to a trademark attorney, Mike Kondoudis, the applications include blockchain software, crypto tokens, virtual currency exchanges, financial and currency trading, as well as digital, crypto, and virtual currencies.
Mike Kondoudis, a USPTO-licensed trademark attorney, tweeted that Meta filed for eight Trademark applications with the following serial numbers: 97320155, 97320153, 97320149, 97320147, 97320146, 97320144, 97320140, and 97320136.
According to his tweet,
“Meta Platforms has filed eight trademark applications for its Logo. The applications cover:
▶️ Crypto tokens
▶️ Blockchain software
▶️ Virtual currency exchanges
▶️ Financial + Currency trading
▶️ Digital, crypto, and virtual currencies.”
The applications reflect Meta’s intention to be a stakeholder in the metaverse and crypto space.
Kondoudis stated,
“These filings reflect the company’s strategy for moving into the metaverse. Meta clearly has significant plans for the virtual economy that will drive it.”
“Meta’s latest trademark filings will surely be of interest to participants in the financial sector and beyond,” Mr. Kondoudis opined.
